GrillTrade Fire Starter Review

When you get the urge to grill or make a campfire, it can be a little difficult to get it started sometimes. When this happens, it can be annoying and frustrating. The good news is that there are products made to help to light your fire much easier.

As I wrote in another post the other week,  there are multiple types of fire starters. There are metal strike ones, like the Bear Grylls starter,  but there’s also kindling blocks that give the sparks from a metal strike somewhere to go. It’s one of the kindling options that we’re going to talk about here today.

The particular product we’re going to talk about today is the GrillTrade Charcoal Fire Starter. Not only am I going to talk about the things I like, but we’re also going to take a look at some things that aren’t the best. Hopefully, you get a pretty good idea of this product by the time you get done reading.

What I Like

Let’s go ahead and start with the things I like. The great thing is that this product has quite a few good features that make it a decent product. For starters, the starter is completely natural. It’s non-toxic, odorless and waterproof. This makes it a great choice for those with allergies or sensitivities because it shouldn’t cause any kinds of reactions. The fact that it’s waterproof also means that you should be able to get your fire started even when it’s raining or wet out.

Another great feature is that it can be used for many different uses. Not only can you easily light things like campfires and wood stoves, but you can also light your grill, fire pit or chimney. There isn’t any certain grill that it works with and it does a great job with brands such as: Big green egg and Weber. These tumbleweed fire starters are much easier to use than other types, such as those made from wax.

I also really love the fact that the package includes 50 fire starters. This means you’ll be able to use them for a longer period of time and you shouldn’t have to buy them as frequently as you do others. The exact use will require a different amount of pieces to start, but you should still be able to have plenty for the season. To light dry logs, you only need to use 1, while small charcoal and small wet logs will require 2 and large charcoal and large wet logs will require 3. There’s a chance that you might have to use more or less than the recommended amounts, but these numbers are usually right on. Once you light the piece, it will burn on its own for around 12 minutes. As long as you get the rest of your logs or charcoal lit before this time limit, you shouldn’t have any issues keeping your fire burning bright.

One last thing I love about these fire starters is that they can be stored for long periods of time. This is great for those that have short seasons where you can burn fires. They will stay dry and intact as long as you keep them in a place that doesn’t get any sort of moisture. You’ll be able to use what you need during the season, then store the leftovers until it’s time to start making fires or grilling again.

What I Don’t Like

As with all products, there are some features I don’t like. These aren’t things that completely make or break the product, but they definitely make things more inconvenient. The first thing I don’t like is that you have to use quite a few in order to get a larger fireplace to start burning and stay lit. This isn’t that great because you’ll end up going through them a lot quicker than you would otherwise.

Another thing is that they don’t really burn very hot. This means that you’ll need more in order to generate enough heat to get certain materials burning. This is another thing that will make you go through them a lot quicker than normal. You’ll also need to watch out because they tend to be quite messy. This shouldn’t be a big deal if you’re lighting a fire outside, but it can be quite the nuisance if you’re lighting something like a fireplace.

Who is This Perfect for?

The final thing I need to talk about before wrapping up is who this product is actually made for. While the ease of use makes it a great option for pretty much anyone, there are some people who will benefit from them more than others. The first is those that just can’t seem to get a fire lit. Sometimes, people can try and try to get a fire going and can’t get it no matter what they try. If this is the case, these fire starters could be the answer. Once you start using them, you should be able to get your fires going a lot easier.

These are also great for those that don’t have the time to get a fire going the old fashioned way. With this product, they can have a bright and hot fire going in just a few minutes. Not only can it save quite a bit of time, but it can mean that you can start doing what you need to much quicker instead of having to waste a bunch of time getting your fire lit and to the temperature you need.

One other type of person this product is great for are those that live in areas that tend to be wetter than others. When people try to light wet logs, they usually have a really hard time. By using a few of these, they should be able to get these types of logs lit quickly. In fact, these fire starters could mean the difference between actually being able to have a fire and having to figure out some kind of alternative!

My Final verdict

My final verdict on the GrillTrade Charcoal Fire Starter is that it’s a fantastic product. Not only do you get a great value for the money, but they work extremely well. They are completely natural and easy to use. Add that with the fact that you have plenty of time to get your fire going before the starter goes out and you have something that will have your fires burning bright and hot. You’ll be able to store them when not in use and as long as you store them correctly they’ll be just like new. If you’ve been looking for a fire starter that has these features, then check these out today!

See you at the campsite!
